One of My Snaps Published Again...
Last year one of my collections was published in UK website and now I am proud that another one got published, in Schmap - Canberra.
I took the picture using my trusted SonyEricsson K750c - which I was thinking of upgrading it. But it still showed some oomph.

Blogging via IM
I found this creative tool that allow me to quickly post a journal right from the IM. This tool (or widget, rather) is part of the service offered by imified (www.imified.com). I know, I know, this blog is not supposed to talk too much about technology, but I found it cool that I can share my thoughts by only using IM. This definitely makes me easier to do updates, as IM is more accessible than email. Still don't know whether I can post picture or video, though...

Learning Culture: Shanghai
My last trip to Shanghai gave me a deeper experience in Chinese culture, Shanghainese in particular. Never been in my previous experiences learning an eastern culture other than mine this deep. My cultural background is a bit 'westernized' which put me in an odd situation even with my own culture. And that did not make entering a brand new culture an easy task.
I would like to share my experiences, however I could not spare that moment now.

One Year Business Model
Beijing olympics is a big hype, especially in China. And almost in every corner of major cities, Official Olympics Shops opened up.
I wonder how they build the business plan to have a decent sized shops that only lasts approximately a year? Opening stalls or using existing distribution network much more sensible but building a new one? Wow...
My suspicion is whoever took this job must've a long term plan of building a new retail network, piggybacking the olympic/government support. This guy will have an amazing distribution network once the olympic finished.
Not such a bad plan after all....
More chinese drive cars nowadays and parking is becoming a problem. They need to find a creative way to accomodate car parking, especially in the city area. Although the picture above is not a new idea, I still think this is an interesting solution. The risk should it malfunctioned will be high, but it is a solution...

Shanghai Upgrade
Shanghai is beautifying herself. Put make-up on old buildings, building roads, all for the upcoming Shanghai Expo 2010. I got a chance to try the new Line 4 (Purple) Metro several times and I was amazed with the quality of the stations, the train itself, and they tried to be more handicapped friendly - by providing a wheelchair! Honestly, handicapped people usually have their own, which makes me wondering when the wheelchairs in the station will ever be used... but hey, at least they tried.

New Chick On the Block
Inspection's done - seemed that everything was okay. Unless on the pigeon issue. I told them that there is nothing I could do until the chick grows and leave the nest, before I can clean the whole balcony.

Get Lucky, Got Lucky
Lower half were Get Lucky shots and the upper half were Got Lucky shots. And those cards were used to pay the bill.
Drinking manual: Drown Get Lucky - then do whatever - and close it by drowning Got Lucky.
Comment on drinks: Get Lucky was nice and sweet, Got Lucky was not as expected/not as nice as the first one (this was comments from most girls). Well girls, this is to let you know how life is - it may be nice and sweet in the beginning, but it may not be as you expected :)
Happy birthday, Jen

Found Clip: Simpsons In The Flesh
A human version of the famous cartoon series 'The Simpsons'. I thought this was the one that going to be the 'Movie' version. Apparently not.
Found Clip: How To Fold A Shirt
The clip shows how to quickly fold a shirt - Japanese style. With origami technology, this trick lets you fold a shirt in seconds.
Mother Love
I had to clean the balcony. I just had to. So I pulled out my cleaning gear and started cleaning. But I did not want to clean the nest, yet. There were two eggs on the nest and their mother was watching them. I set some perimeter of the area to be cleaned and started cleaning.
The pigeon mother was panicked and flew. A moment later a smaller pigeon - I assumed the father - came to check the situation and left, or ran away. The pigeon mother then came - slowly - and went back to the nest. She put her alarmed position and tried to protect her eggs. She took the risk of dangering herself in order to protecting her kids. That is mother love ...

75th Anniversary Sydney Harbour Bridge
Went to Circular Quay in the morning until noon with my friends (and their son). We - except for the boy - were impressed and enjoying ourselves. Well, it's a good fun for me.

Pepper Soft-shelled Crab
I took my friends and family to restaurant in Balmain, called Satasia. I always had good experience and this time was no exception. Although I kept forgetting that they don't serve iced tea.
We also ordered fried fish which was excellent. It looked so good that I forgot taking picture and started scooping in.
I closed it with Gula Malaka and Banana Fritters which is just right in the tounge.
Another job well done.

My Photo in FluidEating
I had a message in my flickr that this dude would like to use my photo of Thai food for his company's website. I'd like, that's cool, man. I don't mind at all, and I did not mind when he said that they could not pay. I ain't no professional anyway. But he was cool enough that he would acknowledge the work by putting my name and link to my flickr page.
So here it is, shown in the picture above, the website. It looks alright, I'd say.

Chinese New Year Parade 2007 - Sydney
The parade is held a week before actual CNY and people in Sydney really celebrated the occasion. The road from Town Hall to Chinatown was blocked for the parade.

The Great Ocean Road Drive
I finally did it again yesterday and it was worth it. Spent the whole day, mostly driving and stop once in a while when we wanted to. We stopped at several beaches, and at some woods for taking pictures of koalas and kangaroos. We left Melbourne at around 5.30AM and back around 7.00PM - we could not sleep after woken up around 4AM and decided to do the drive....very good decision made.
We will do the drive again next time, but maybe stopping overnight at Apollo Bay so we have more chance to explore - although Lorne has some nice hotels.

Cafe Batavia
I went to Jakarta on business and I took the opportunity to pay a visit to my old time favorite place - Cafe Batavia. It used to be the best bar in the world 1996, according to Newsweek magazine. And it did show its 'aura' still, although not as busy as it used to be. I went with my parents and buddy for lunch and we had fantastic Indonesian and Chinese food - at the price not as expensive as I thought it would be, although still expensive comparing to the market rate in town. Had a very good experience and definitely will come back if I am in town.

Little Penguins on Phillip Island, Australia
This guy, Bill Adler, was very lucky to have a chance to take picture of penguins in Phillip Island. Now it is strictly a no no. But it is still a good experience to see these cute birds walking back to their nests. I went there twice and I still want to go back.

Doors of Jogja
I encountered this photo in Flickr, a collection from Farl. He captured the colours that brought me some recollections that people in Jogja really loves colours, and I mean bright solid colours. I missed this details so long ago and this photo brought back the memory of my hometown.

Happy New Year 2007
Just wishing all the best for everyone. I decided to have a quiet celebration this year and watch TV. Channel Ten is broadcasting live Sydney fireworks. And I did not really excited with the programme - maybe I am a bit too old for the style - other than the fireworks. I was quite surprised when they show one act of "Priscilla: Queen of The Desert" just right after the kiddie fireworks, and they were using the dialogues that were not "family friendly". I was a bit uncomfortable with the timing - definitely too early. I just kept on skipping the channel so I missed another act in Channel Ten that apparently offensive, son of Bert Newton (forgot his name) doing some obscene gestures in front of television - again still at the hours where kids still awake. I just learned that in "today tonight" - on Channel Seven. They argument was that show was intended for 25-ish audience, but the way I see it, it is more like a show that organised/run by 25-ish people. Not that age matter...
